73. Fires take wildlife toll
In the age of the Internet and virtual communities, we're told that a new kind of physical isolation from one another, by way of digital interconnectivity, is becoming the norm. Like the traditional town square, coffee shops offer a space to commiserate, to people watch, to strike up conversations with friends as well as strangers and to engage in face-to-face communication. The men discuss the rescue efforts for a few minutes, agreeing that it's an impossible situation, now that rescuers...

74. Herman Dierks Park stream causing erosion problems
Instead of making the water go away in a pipe, they suggested making the stream wider and sloping the banks to allow the water to come out on the banks. A portion of the stream has a dike with a 6-foot diameter pipe and during heavy rains the flow of water fills the pipe. It s not very attractive, and we ve talked about solutions for years. We ve put broken concrete on some of the bank to keep it from eroding. We ve sprayed the banks to keep the willows from spreading. Herman Dierks Park...

75. LP: D. Willis (8-15)
Pat Burrell homered and drove in three runs, and Moyer overcame one awful inning to remain unbeaten against Florida and lead Philadelphia to an 8-5 win over the Marlins on Sunday. Moyer beat the Marlins for the fourth time this season and improved his career mark to 7-0 against the worst team in the NL. 78. Trail markers will help protect Sand Mountain butterfly
On any federal lands where construction or disturbance of an area that has any potential of having any historic or cultural items, this is a requirement, Goetsch said. Before the trail markers can be placed, federal law requires a review to inventory all the archaeological and historic resources in the area. 79. Homegrown: How on Earth offers cornucopia of food less-traveled
The people behind a new enterprise called How On Earth are investing in the idea of "food less-traveled" for SouthCoast in order to increase regional sustainability and reduce the fossil fuel it takes to bring goods to market. It also is where anyone can stop in to find tasty heirloom tomatoes, vegetables in season, artisan cheese, free-range eggs, grass-fed free-range beef, or goat's milk. They come from seeds with lineages that trace back at least 50 years, before long-distance...
