10. Another tragic lesson in just how dangerous farming is
Fortunately, it is no longer deemed necessary to send tens of thousands of men underground, but accidents still happen on farms with a depressing regularity. 13. Market Report -- Story Stocks (DE)
The simple fact propelling growth for this company is when farmers have more cash, they spend more on farming equipment. Investors should instead focus on the infrastructure build-out, major corn producers, fertilizer companies, and farming equipment manufacturers. Our bullish position on the stock rests on the growing confidence in the sustainability and durability of higher agricultural commodity prices driving equipment sales, coupled with Deere's impressive execution. 17. Students forming lasting memories
East Marshall first grader Ellen Hungerford sat at her art table Tuesday morning glazing a piece of pottery made possible by something very near to her heart: her brother s memory. He said this year students have worked on pottery and masks but next year students will likely be making chimes as well with the school s new capabilities. Tim said...

As I wrote in my lead-in to the CCC columns, one of the best features of my job is I can get interested in something of historical bent, put out the word and learn firsthand from folks who were there. Let's find some longtime farmers who can remember how these subsidies affected their family's plot of ground in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Also, I got more than a dozen...
