A 10 day garden festival. This is the only garden festival in New Zealand where all the gardens have been independently assessed by the New Zealand Garden Trust for their design, plant selection, and maintenance. Taranaki has some of the country's finest gardens and also the largest number of gardens of national significance in New Zealand. The Festival showcases the diverse range of gardens throughout Taranaki from coastal and sub-tropical to alpine.

First held in 1997, Heroic Gardens is a yearly event which has become a much enjoyed part of the Auckland summer calendar. It appeals to a broad spectrum of the community and provides an opportunity to see a diverse range of gardens and to meet the garden owners. As a February event, the festival celebrates the subtropical aspect of Auckland's gardens, it's summer life-style and is a chance to be inspired while supporting a worthwhile cause.
