People located in Central Texas who are interested in growing African Violets. The First Austin African Violet Society (FAAVS) is an affiliate of the African Violet Society Of America, Inc. (AVSA) and the Lone Star African Violet Council (LSAVC).

We are a non-profit society who shares information and growing techniques on Gesneriads. (The African Violet Family.) Meetings are usually every first Sunday from September to May at McNabb Community Centre. Meetings consist of a business portion, a chance to purchase plant material and supplies, help and information, a coffee and tea break, and an educational program with special presentations from experienced growers from our own club and special guests from other affiliated clubs.

The Society was founded in 1985 and has about 600 members in Sweden, the other Scandinavian Countries and England. The English version of the site provides basic information, access to the photo gallery, and links to other resources.

AMAS was formed and constituted in 1993 as the natural successor to the former Manchester Allotments Council, when formal responsibility for allotment administration was transferred to the Manchester Leisure division of the city council. This specialist group of the Alpine Garden Society is based in the UK but has a very significant overseas membership. The group is now well established with twice yearly meetings, annual seed exchange, regular newsletters and the biennial Androsace Notebook.
