Degree programs: B.S. in Nutrition and Food Science; B.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Management; M.S. and Ph.D. in Nutrition and Food Science with emphases in nutrition, food science, or hotel and restaurant management. Minor: Undergraduate International Minor in Human Sciences (IMHS). Non-degree programs: Dietary Manager Independent Study Program, offered in conjunction with the Distance Learning Office, for professionals in health care facility food services.

The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Michigan State University (MSU) is jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the College of Natural Science. All four of the undergraduate majors require a basic science background which is a prerequisite to the upper level courses in food science and human nutrition. Programs may lead to B.S degree in the following areas: Dietetics, Food Science, Nutritional Science. Graduate programs leading to M.S and Ph.D degrees are available in the basic disciplines of Food Science and Human Nutrition.

Appetite is an international research journal specializing in behavioural nutrition and the cultural, sensory, and physiological influences on choices and intakes of foods and drinks. It covers normal and disordered eating and drinking, dietary attitudes and practices and all aspects of the bases of human and animal behaviour toward food.
