The Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish) works across all sectors of the UK seafood industry to promote good quality, sustainable seafood. Our research and projects are aimed at raising standards, improving efficiency and ensuring that our industry develops in a viable way. We are the UK's only cross-industry seafood body working with fishermen, processors, wholesalers, seafood farmers, fish friers, caterers, retailers and the import/export trade.

We support development and production in the food industry in order to: promote the sale of healthy and secure food, show consideration to the environment og nature in the production of food, boost the competitiveness of the food industry. Our activities include: metering out subsidies to farmers and fishermen, administration of the Law of Land Holdings, administration of the law of land consolidation and acquisition of land, check the grantees and the administration of subsidies.

Milk Development Council (MDC) was established by the Agriculture Ministers following the re-organisation of the milk industry at the end of 1994. It was set up as a levy-collecting body which then spent levy mainly on funding research and development into production methods.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) safeguards Canada's food supply and the plants and animals upon which safe and high-quality food depends. The CFIA delivers inspection programs related to food, plants and animals in 18 regions across Canada. Our role is to enforce the food safety and nutritional quality standards established by Health Canada and, for animal health and plant protection, to set standards and carry out enforcement and inspection.

The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) is Australia's first line of defence, protecting our unique environment against exotic pests and diseases. We inspect incoming luggage, cargo, mail, animals and plants and their products, and provide inspection and certification for a range of exports.
