The Schapendoes, or Dutch Sheepdog, is a lightly built, lively dog. Although there are only a few Schapendoes still actually working with a large flock of sheep, as a household pet the breed does not deny its shepherding origin. The Schapendoes must be trained in a consistent manner. Start playfully, but be resolute.

The Breed Standard height for mature males is a minimum of 28” with a range of 28” - 32” (average around 29") and for mature females a minimum of 26” with a range of 26” - 30” (average around 27").
