  Genetic Structure: Japanese Black
Japanese Black cattle of Hyogo prefecture (Tajima strain) are famous for its ability to produce high-quality meat and have been maintained as a closed system for more than 80 years. In order to assess the usefulness of microsatellite markers in closed cattle populations, and evaluate the genetic structure of the Tajima strain, we analyzed representative dams of the Tajima strain comprised of the substrains Nakadoi and Kinosaki.

Genetic and Environmental Effects on Carcass Traits of Japanese Brown Cattle. Studies on the genetic and environmental effects on M.longissimus thoracis area (MLTA), fat thickness (SFT), rib thickness (RT) and marbling score (MS) were conducted on 21,086 steers and 7,151 heifers of Japanese Brown breed.

  Lang Moor Dairy
Lang Moor Dairy consists of 250 acres and an additional 60 acres is rented. The milking herd consists of 100 head: 50% Guernsey and 50% Holsteins. All cows are milked in a double 4 Flat Barn parlour.

Operated by the Vanderwal family. Located in the Fraser River Valley in southwestern British Columbia, Canada, the farm milks 225 Holsteins twice daily and farms 350 acres of corn and grassland. Cedarwal has been breeding registered Holsteins for 25 years, and is recognized as a Master Breeder herd by Holstein Canada.

  Jim and Sandy's Farm
We farm about 800 acres raising alfalfa, corn, wheat, and soybeans. The alfalfa and some of the corn goes for cattle feed, the rest is sold. We have a small herd of mostly Holstein cows with a few Ayrshires left over from our 4-H days.

  Wilson View Farm
Farm located in upstate New York. We have a herd of registered Brown Swiss and Holsteins - milking around 65 - 80 cows in a 28 stall stanchion barn. We do sell cows, heifers, calves, and bulls. We will also breed a cow to the sire of your choice if you want a bull or a heifer.
