• International League for the Protection of Horses
The International League for the Protection of Horses was founded in 1927 by Miss Ada Cole, the main aim being to prevent the ill-treatment of horses exported to Europe for slaughter. At home - in the United Kingdom the ILPH runs four Recovery and Rehabilitation Centres with around three hundred equines undergoing rehabilitation at any one time.

The New European Distressed Donkey Initiative is a non-profit making company, limited by guarantee. Established in 1990 it offers care and safety to donkeys (and to a lesser degree, ponies) within Britain and Europe at risk from neglect, cruelty or mal-treatment.

The Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary is a registered charity, caring for abused and ill-treated animals. We rely totally upon public donations to enable us to do this valuable work. Adopting one of the donkeys is a popular way to support the ongoing care of the animals, and can make an unusual gift.

Registered Charity No 1053861. The Only Foals and Horses Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates and retires horses and ponies which are the subjects of cruelty and neglect. The Only Foals and Horses Sanctuary is now full to capacity with over 150 horses and ponies, besides the little menagerie of pets.

The Centre was originally founded in 1990, and is now formally run as a non-profit making organisation. Our Mission is to provide sanctuary for horses and ponies who are a made homeless, or caused suffering, through no fault of their own. We aim to provide any such animals a safe and happy home for the rest of their natural life.

• Shy Lowen Horse and Pony Sanctuary
Shy Lowen Horse and Pony Sanctuary has been in operation since 9th November 1999. The mission of Shy Lowen is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home (where possible) any equine in need; and to provide a safe haven for all those that are not re-homeable. We operate sponsorship and adoption schemes.

• Miniature Pony Rescue Centre, The
The Miniature Pony Rescue Centre is being established to provide a loving home and a place of safety for unfortunate animals. As stated in the Charity's constitution, our aims are: the relief of suffering of miniature ponies and miniature horses, who by reason of cruelty, ill treatment or sickness, are in need of care and attention.

• Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies
SWHP is run almost entirely by volunteers. We will care for abused or injured horses and ponies, rehabilitating them and re-homing them in a safe, caring environment. No horse or pony taken in by SWHP will ever be sold. We will rehome each horse or pony on a loan basis and monitor their progress through yearly visits.
