SWHP is run almost entirely by volunteers. We will care for abused or injured horses and ponies, rehabilitating them and re-homing them in a safe, caring environment. No horse or pony taken in by SWHP will ever be sold. We will rehome each horse or pony on a loan basis and monitor their progress through yearly visits.

The non-profit horse rescue organization, Broken Oaks has been set up to rescue and provide a permanent home for horses to live out their final years in peace and comfort. As well as a horse rescue center, we also operate a horse adoption center placing some horses we receive with groups or private parties that meet eligibility requirements.

Crossed Sabers Stable was established in July of 1996. The Second Wind Adoption Program was founded by the stable owner, Celeita Kramer. Second Wind Adoption became a non-profit program the summer of ‘98 and the entire facility became non-profit the summer of 2000.

The Epona Project is a Colorado nonprofit that uses cutting edge natural horsemanship techniques and traditional horse training methods to educate horse enthusiasts and train, rescue, rehabilitate, and gentle wild and problem horses and educate their owners.

The Equine Rescue Association (ERA) operates a shelter for horses in Marysville, WA. It is a non-profit, charitable organization run by volunteers. All supplies, equipment, and feed are donated or paid for by donated funds. Funds are raised by educational programs such as riding lessons, publication sales, through community outreach efforts, and promotional events with local merchants.

Located in Stow, Massachusetts, Eye of the Storm is an equine rescue center dedicated to saving the lives of horses who have been abused, neglected or abandoned. Horses that come to this barn remain here for life, or may be placed in approved foster homes once they are completely rehabilitated.
