The Equine Protection Network (EPN) has dedicated much of its efforts to the investigation and enforcement of horse cruelty laws and when necessary, to passage of legislation to protect America's horses. The EPN is now a non-profit charitable horse welfare organization, dependant on public donations.

The Centre was originally founded in 1990, and is now formally run as a non-profit making organisation. Shy Lowen Horse and Pony Sanctuary has been in operation since 9th November 1999. The mission of Shy Lowen is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home (where possible) any equine in need; and to provide a safe haven for all those that are not re-homeable. We operate sponsorship and adoption schemes.
