Birthplace of Seabiscuit, Forego, Kelso. Horse of the Year Winners in 17 Seasons. This unique record was compiled by Granville, Seabiscuit, Nashua, Bold Ruler, Dedicate, Round Table, Kelso, Moccasin, Buckpasser, Forego, and Ferdinand.
• Lammtarra's History
Lammtarra's racing career was short, but very sweet. In all he raced just four times. All four outings resulted in victory. He raced just once as a two year old before being sent to the 1995 without the benefit of a prep race.

Coal black, sickle-hocked, and full of fire, The Diver spread his legend across seven California seasons. His devoted trainer, Buster Millerick, handled the gelding like fine china, passing races when he had the slightest doubts. Still, Millerick kept Native Diver going strong through 81 starts and 37 victories, banking $1,026,500 when a million was a million.

Omaha's victory was worth $35,480, and brought his total earnings to $106,930, of which $103,080 has been won this year. In 15 starts he has won five races, finished second five times, third once. He has won four of his six starts at three, finished once second, once third.

• Alydar: Champion Sire
Under the training of John Veitch, Alydar began his racing career in 1977, making his first start in the Youthful Stakes and finishing fifth. He then won a maiden race before meeting Affirmed for the second of six times at the age of two. While they had met in the Youthful Stakes, the pair really began their rivalry in the Great American Stakes.

In an eerie repeat of their running together in last month's Sandown Classic Trial, Benny The Dip and Silver Patriarch flashed over the line together at the finish of the first £1 million Vodafone Derby, at Epsom. As at Sandown, Benny The Dip held a narrow advantage, his short-head verdict yesterday, in a desperate finish, being achieved on the nod.
• The Horses of Calumet Farm
Bull Lea was purchased in 1936 at the Saratoga Yearling Sale by Warren Wright Sr. for $14,000. During his racing career he more that justified his purchase price, earning $94,825 with 10 wins in 27 starts. After three years on the track, he was retired to stud, standing for a fee of $750. It was as a sire that Bull Lea would etch his name in American turf history.
