The mission of Organization of Biological Field Stations (OBFS) is to serve the member stations in ways that increase their effectiveness in research, education and outreach.

A field station of the California State University (CSU) located among a haven of natural ponds, dry lakes, and foothills in the Mojave Desert east of Barstow, DSC provides the opportunity for individuals and groups to conduct research, receive instruction, and experience the desert environment.

Archbold Biological Station is a non-profit research facility, devoted to long-term ecological research and conservation of the organisms and environments of the Lake Wales Ridge area in Florida.

Established in 1965 as an NRS reserve and 1958 as a UCR campus reserve. One of the largest NRS reserves, the Boyd Deep Canyon Desert Research Center encompasses a major drainage system descending from the high peaks of the Santa Rosa Mountains down to Colorado Desert.

NCCOS' Center for Coastal Environmental Health and Biomolecular Research (CCEHBR - Charleston, SC and Oxford, MD) conducts environmental research and develops diagnostic tools to measure coastal ecosystem health.

The mission of the Center for Wildlife and Plant Ecology is to conduct basic and applied research on wildlife, their habitats, and the wetlands of Illinois. The Center is composed of research biologists, ecologists, and supporting personnel. Funding is provided by the Illinois Natural History Survey and through grants and contracts obtained by the scientists.

The mission of the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute is to promote public awareness, appreciation, and concern for the natural diversity of the Chihuahuan Desert region through research and education. To achieve this mission, the Institute provides environmental education to the community, encourages biodiversity conservation, and promotes and demonstrates sustainable development in the desert.

The Columbia Mountains Institute of Applied Ecology (CMI) is a non-profit society dedicated to facilitating applied ecological research in the Columbia Mountains of British Columbia and to making information stemming from this research available to managers, resource technicians, scientists, and the public.
