• Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme
The Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP) is an international organization established in 1991 to implement components of the Arctic Environmental Protection Strategy (AEPS).
• Environmental Contaminants Encyclopedia
Natural Resource Hazards and Visitor Safety in Parks.
• IPMRC Ecotoxicology Page
This resource is an overview of Ecotoxicology in Pest Management. It is both a basic guide to the subject and an information resource for scientists, policy makers and commercial companies on who is doing what, and where in Ecotoxicology.
• Bioassessment and Biocriteria
EPA's resource for information on Biological Criteria, Assessment, and Indicators. Chapter 2 of "Biological Criteria: National Program Guidance for Surface Waters". This chapter covers sections of the Clean Water Act that relate to biological assessments and biocriteria. For instance, Section 303(c)(2)(B) requires States to adopt criteria bases on bioassessments and Section 304(a)(8) directs EPA to develop and publish guidance.
• European Network Bioindication
European network for the assessment of air quality by the use of bioindicator plants. Project within the scope of the program LIFE Environment 1999 of the European Commission LIFE99 ENV/D/000453.
• MitoScan Rapid Mitochondria-based Bioassays
Corporation markets its MitoScan toxicity test kits for diverse applications in environmental eco-toxicity monitoring, effluent management and product safety screening using a rapid mitochondria-based biosensor.
• California Wildlife Exposure Factor & Toxicity Database
The California Wildlife Biology, Exposure Factor, and Toxicity Database (Cal/Ecotox) is a compilation of ecological, physiological data, and toxicity data for a number of California mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles. The database has been created by the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, in collaboration with the University of California at Davis, to provide an information resource for risk assessors conducting ecological risk assessments in California.
• EXTOXNET - The EXtension TOXicology NETwork
The EXTOXNET InfoBase provides a variety of information about pesticides. Access the Pesticide Information Profiles (PIPs) for specific information on pesticides. Toxicology Information Briefs (TIBs) contain a discussion of certain concepts in toxicology and environmental chemistry. Other topic areas include: Toxicology Issues of Concern (TICs), Factsheets, News about Toxicology Issues, Newsletters, Resources for Toxicology Information, and Technical Information.
• Unknown Contaminant Found In Seabird Eggs
A previously unknown contaminant, similar to PCBs and dioxins, and suspected to be of marine origin, has been found in the eggs of Atlantic and Pacific Ocean seabirds. If a marine organism is proven to be the source, it would be the first instance of a naturally produced organohalogen accumulating in the eggs of wild birds.
• Ecological Risk Analysis Tools and Applications
This site contains information and resources on a variety of topics related to the growing field of ecological risk analysis. This is an updated and expanded version of the original ORNL site by this name. Whereas the previous version focused on ecological risk assessments for hazardous waste sites (i.e., chemicals), this site now contains information on the expanded role of ecological risk analysis in environmental decision making. All of the tools that made this site popular with risk assessors in the 1990s are still available.
