  Global Canopy Programme
Global Canopy Programme - An international, integrated, coordinated study of canopies across major environmental and management gradients to investigate the role of forest canopies in maintaining global biodiversity, global environmental conditions, and the sustainability of forests.

Spherical Dome Helps Kentucky Researchers Study Forest Canopy
Scientists at the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture believe they have discovered a way to make forest light measurements more accurate. Their research will assist foresters in selecting the right trees to plant, and protecting the environment.

  The Panama Canopy Crane
The Panama Canopy Crane at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute Panama City, Panama. The world's first canopy crane stands 42 meters high and has a horizontal jib of 51 meters. The forest canopy under the crane provides researchers with access to 8,000 square meters of upper canopy surface, and 28,000 cubic meters of forest volume, including some 140 individual canopy trees.

Wind River Canopy Crane Research Facility
The Wind River Canopy Crane Research Facility (WRCCRF) was established in 1994 as a cooperative scientific and educational venture among the University of Washington College of Forest Resources, the USFS Pacific Northwest Research Station, and the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The site is located on the Wind River Experimental Forest which is closely allied with the H. J. Andrews Experimental Forest.

  Budongo Forest Project, Uganda
The website for the Budongo Forest Project in Uganda. Started in 1990 after a break of 28 years, the Budongo Forest Project in Uganda combines the best of modern forestry with the conservation of one of the world's most significant endangered species, the chimpanzee. The aim of the project is to understand the relationships between biodiversity, forest management practices, timber extraction and use by the local population.

  Forest Biology Research Cooperative
An Integrated University-Industry Cooperative Dedicated to Optimizing the Productivity, Health and Sustainability of Intensively Managed Southern Pine Forest Ecosystems.

  SLU - Skogsekologi
Department of Forest Ecology, Swedish University of Agricultural Science. Research and publications.

  The Sahara Desert
The Sahara is the world's largest hot desert, over 9,000,000 km² (3,500,000 mi²), located in northern Africa and is 2.5 million years old. The boundaries of the Sahara are the Atlantic Ocean on the west, the Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea on the north, the Red Sea and Egypt on the east, and the Sudan and the valley of the River Niger on the south. Sahara is divided into western Sahara, the central Ahaggar Mountains, the Tibesti massif, the Air Mountains (a region of desert mountains and high plateaus), Tenere desert and the Libyan desert (the most arid region).

  Big Canopy Database
Search canopy researchers and citations at the The Big Canopy Database. Mission Statement: To combine efforts of forest canopy researchers with database and computer scientists to produce effective tools to manage, analyze, and disseminate shared data pertaining to complex ecological questions requiring multiple disciplines and a wide range of spatial scales.

  Ecotarium: Tree Canopy Walkway Programs
EcoTarium's Tree Canopy Walkway is a series of platforms and rope bridges suspended more than 40 feet above ground among a grove of oak and hickory trees. Opened at EcoTarium in July 1999, it was the first in the country available for public use. The walkway is modeled after those built for scientific research in tropical and temperate forests around the world.
