  The Institute of Freshwater Ecology
The Centre for Ecology and Hydrology is one of five Centres and Surveys funded by the Natural Environment Research Council. The Natural Environment Research Council delivers independent research, survey, training and knowledge transfer in the environmental sciences, to advance knowledge of planet Earth as a complex, interacting system.

North Carolina State Center for Applied Aquatic Ecology
The Center's broad research directive is to assess and find practical solutions to water quality problems in North Carolina and the nation. The Center's research projects span from freshwaters to estuaries and marine waters, for example, cyanobacteria and their toxins in major drinking water supply reservoirs in North Carolina; long-term trends in nutrient loading to the Neuse River and Estuary and ecosystem response, related to changing land use patterns in the watershed; and the biology of harmful algae and their impacts on finfish and shellfish health.

U of Maryland Chesapeake Biological Laboratory (CBL)
The Chesapeake Biological Laboratory (CBL) is a marine research facility of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES). UMCES sister campuses include the Horn Point Laboratory, Cambridge, on Maryland's Eastern Shore, and the Appalachian Laboratory, Frostburg, in the mountains of Western Maryland. UMCES research fleet is located on the CBL Campus.

  San Francisco Estuary Institute
SFEI was founded as a non-profit organization in 1986 to foster the development of the scientific understanding needed to protect and enhance the San Francisco Estuary. SFEI fills the niche between environmental science and environmental management and policy for San Francisco Estuary and its watershed. We conduct science studies, synthesize data and information, and collaborate with other scientists to provide a holistic integration of information from many disciplines that supports management activities or demonstrates the potential implications of different management scenarios to environmental management agencies and other stakeholders.

University of Maryland Center for Environmental and Estuarine Studies
The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science is Maryland's premiere higher education institute for environmental science and an international model for coastal studies.

South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve
The mission of South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve is to improve the understanding and stewardship of Pacific Northwest estuaries and coastal watersheds. The 4,771 acre Reserve encompasses a mixture of open water channels, tidal and freshwater wetlands, riparian areas, and forested uplands. SSNERR actively supports and coordinates research, education, and stewardship programs which serve to enhance a scientific and public understanding of estuaries and contribute to improved estuarine management.

USGS National Wetlands Research Center: Wetlands Ecology Branch
Conducts research related to sustainable management and restoration of the nation's coastal saltwater wetlands, coastal and inland freshwater wetlands, submerged aquatic ecosystems, and coastal prairie.

Southern California Association Marine Invertebrate Taxonomists
SCAMIT was formed in 1982 with the goal of promoting the study of marine invertebrate taxonomy in southern California and developing a regionally standardized taxonomy. To accomplish this, SCAMIT provides a regular monthly forum to address problems in taxonomy, organizes taxonomic workshops, and maintains a reference collection and library of taxonomic literature. SCAMlT's activities contribute to the scientific value of the many surveys of marine benthic invertebrate communities conducted in southern California by assuring standardized taxonomy and compatibility between various taxonomic data sets.

  Aquatic Microbial Ecology
Aleading journal in its field, AME covers all aspects of aquatic microbial dynamics, in particular viruses, prokaryotes and eukaryotes - planktonic and benthic, autotrophic and heterotophic - in marine, limnetic and brackish habitats. As a companion journal to MEPS, it strives for the same quality criteria, quick publication and high technical standards.

  Journal of Freshwater Ecology
Published quarterly. The Journal of Freshwater Ecology is intended to be a vehicle for the reasonably rapid dissemination of current limnological information. The Journal publishes refereed manuscripts dealing with a wide variety of original ecological studies, observations, and techniques. Review articles, abstracts, and extensive mongraphs will not normally by published.
