The Bioinformatics Organization, Inc. serves the scientific and educational needs of bioinformatic practitioners and the general public. We develop and maintain computational resources to facilitate world-wide communications and collaborations between people of all educational and professional levels. We provide and promote open access to the materials and methods required for, and derived from, research, development and education.

SocBiN is a non-profit organization for people working with and interested in bioinformatics and computational biology. The organization has predominantly members from the Nordic (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden) and Baltic (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland) countries. The European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) is a non-profit academic organisation that forms part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). The EBI is a centre for research and services in bioinformatics. The Institute manages databases of biological data including nucleic acid, protein sequences and macromolecular structures.

The Institute of Bioinformatics is a not-for-profit organization engaged in research in Databases, Computational Genomics and Proteomics. The main goal of the Institute of Bioinformatics is to decipher the recently sequenced human genome. Proteins are encoded by genes which are scattered throughout the genome. As a first step, the Institute of Bioinformatics has developed a comprehensive database of all known human proteins and their characteristics.

NBI is a national organization of bioinformaticians across the United States. NBI enhances and expands bioinformatics education programs by providing cutting edge professional development for instructors, by improving curriculum, by making use of technologies and by creating a certification program that arouses interests about bioinformatics and promotes standardization of bioinformatics curriculums and tests worldwide.

The SIB is an academic not-for-profit foundation established on March 30, 1998 whose mission is to promote research, the development of databanks and computer technologies, teaching and service activities in the field of bioinformatics, in Switzerland with international collaborations.
