The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition is jointly administered by the College of Agriculture (CAG) and the College of Family and Consumer Sciences (CFCS). There are 40 faculty members, 31 staff members, 70 graduate students, and 270 undergraduate students.

We offer 44 undergraduate and 47 graduate courses, the BA/BS in sociology or in an interdisciplinary program in public service and administration in agriculture, and the MS and PhD in sociology and rural sociology.

One of the US leading education and research institutions in solving problems related to agricultural engineering and agricultural systems technology. Each year more than 50 people complete a degree in either agricultural engineering or agricultural systems technology.

The specialties of the faculty are diverse. The graduate student- faculty ratio is about two to one, providing for close interchange. Interaction with other departments on campus is excellent, providing a broad exposure to teaching and research.

The department offers five majors and one minor for students interested in crop science, soil science, and agricultural meteorology. Bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees are offered as well as a web-based, distance learning master's degree program.
