The Department of Animal and Plant Sciences at the University of Sheffield offers nine degree courses based around the core subjects of biology, zoology, plant sciences and ecology. These offer students a large choice of specialist modules, including field courses, and the option of taking subjects as a three year (BSc), or four year (MBiolSci) degree. The Department also contributes to courses in Natural Environmental Science and Landscape Design and Ecology. The Department of Animal and Plant Sciences has state of the art research facilities in Sheffield, including the NERC funded Sheffield Molecular Genetics Facility and suites of controlled environment chambers, and major field experiments in Derbyshire, the Lake District, Svalbard, sub-arctic Sweden, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Borneo.
