  Department of Zoology, University of Cambridge
Zoology is a large, multi-disciplinary Department whose members conduct research and teaching in areas ranging from molecular biology to behavioural ecology. We are a thriving Department and have consistently received the maximum rating in HEFCE research assessments, most recently a 5*, and scores of 24 in TQA assessments of our molecular and organismal biology teaching. We number some 350 people, including 36 research fellows on independent competitive grants and 84 graduate students studying for PhD degrees. Seventeen members of the Department are Fellows of The Royal Society. The number of undergraduates studying our courses has grown steadily in recent years so that our final year class now consists of more than 100 students.

  Anglia Polytechnic University Department of Life Sciences
Life Sciences is a large, dynamic Department within the Faculty of Science and Technology, with a full-time staff of twenty four. Degrees have been offered by the Department since 1957, with continuing innovation in degree provision. In recent years we have introduced new undergraduate degrees in Animal Behaviour, Animal Welfare, Ecology and Conservation, Sports Science (delivered in association with Anglia Ruskin University Regional Colleges), Natural History and Marine Biology as well as a very successful Internet-based postgraduate MSc in Biomedical Sciences. Alongside teaching, staff in the Department undertake research in a wide range of areas. This includes DNA profiling of bird populations, behavioural studies on baboons in Tanzania, entomological studies on Fenland restoration projects, behavioural studies on insect natural enemies, studies of bone disease, physiological and pathological responses to extreme endurance exercise and tumour pathology. The Department is located in Cambridge, a city with major strengths in academic, research and industrial activities related to Life Sciences.

Full Time Courses: agriculture and countryside management, animal care, horticulture and floristry, equine studies; Work Based Learning in Agriculture: to be an agriculture apprentice at The College of West Anglia you have to be aged between 16 and 24; Part Time Agriculture and General Landbased Studies: courses in agriculture and general land based studies are generally offered to meet the needs of employed staff needing vocational training or those looking for a change of career.

  Department of Plant Sciences, University of Cambridge
Department of Plant Sciences - Dedicated to Research and Teaching in Plant, Fungal and Microbial Sciences. Undergraduate teaching courses in the first, second and third years: First Year - Biology of Cells, Quantitative Biology, Evolution and Behaviour, Physiology of Organisms; Second Year - Plant and Microbial Sciences, Cell and Developmental Biology, Ecology; Third Year - Plant Sciences. There are several research laboratories in the Department, conducting research in the following areas: Transport, signalling and metabolism, Plant cell development, Pathology and Epidemiology, Ecology and Ecophysiology.

The Department of Veterinary Medicine at Cambridge is at the forefront of veterinary science and education and is a centre of excellence for teaching and research.
