BCA (Berkshire College of Agriculture) provides both further and higher education courses on a full and part time basis.

The School, formed in August 2001, comprises three Departments and one Center: Department of Agricultural and Food Economics, Department of Agriculture, Department of International and Rural Development, Centre for Agricultural Strategy. The School promotes excellence in research and teaching in the natural and social sciences relating to agriculture, rural environments and the countryside, the businesses and people associated with these sectors and affected by them [e.g. food and agribusiness, rural livelihoods and consumers], and the policy cum political environments in which they function locally, nationally, regionally and globally.

The School of Food Biosciences is the largest department of its kind in the UK. The school offers 5 undergraduate science degree programmes in areas involving food and biotechnology: Biotechnology, Food Science, Food Science with Business, Food Technology, Nutrition and Food Science. All the programmes can be taken as either a 3-year programme or a 4-year programme including industrial/professional training. The School also offers 3 taught, post-graduate MSc programmes - Food Science, Food Technology Quality Assurance, and Nutrition and Food Science. Modern facilities exist to investigate most elements of the food chain, from food bioprocessing, microbial and molecular science, nutrition, and safety, to effects in the gastrointestinal tract. This gives the School unique strength across the whole multidisciplinary spectrum of Food Biosciences.

The School of Plant Sciences carries out teaching and research in the areas of Agricultural Botany, Botany, Horticulture and Landscape. Within the School many researchers are at the forefront of their fields, and the research and teaching carried out is well known and respected worldwide.
