  Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is a world-renowned scientific centre for the study of plants, their diversity and conservation. The Garden offers educational courses and events for adults and children; and also trains specialists. RBGE has four Gardens, together known as the National Botanic Gardens of Scotland - Inverleith in Edinburgh, Benmore Botanic Garden in Argyll, Logan Botanic Garden in Galloway and Dawyck Botanic Garden in the Scottish Borders.

  University of Liverpool Veterinary School
The Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Liverpool is organized into three main Departments: 1. Veterinary Preclinical Science including Anatomy, Physiology, Cell Biology & Pharmacology 2. Veterinary Pathology including Pathology and Microbiology 3. Veterinary Clinical Science including Divisions: Livestock Health and Welfare, Equine, Small Animal, Animal Husbandry. Those departments are based in the Main Veterinary Building and Small Animal Hospital on the Liverpool Campus and at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at, 'Leahurst' , approximately 12 miles outside Liverpool on the Wirral Peninsula. In addition, Veterinary Anaesthesia is based in the Department of Anaesthesia in the Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Veterinary Parasitology is based in the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Liverpool Veterinary School was awarded 24/24 in the QAA's Subject Review. Add to this our top score of 5 in RAE 2001, and you have a top-rated centre of teaching and research in veterinary education. 1,800 Number of horses admitted to the equine hospital in 2003 for investigation and treatment. This number ensures all students have good exposure to equine clinical cases. 2000 Number of cases seen in the small Animal Hospital. In addition, the first opinion clinic (Fern-Grove surgery) sees around 30 cases a day.

  Merrist Wood Campus at Guildford College of Further and Higher Education
Merrist Wood Campus, located three miles from Guildford town centre in Worplesdon, dates back as early as 1318. The 400-acre site specialises in land-based programmes including horticulture, floristry, landscaping, garden design, animal care, countryside, golf, sports turf, arboriculture and equine studies. The indoor riding arena is one of the largest in the country and the animal care unit has both companion and exotic animals. Other facilities include specially designed studios and workshops for floristry, garden design, horticulture and landscaping and access to an adjoining 18-hole golf course. Work from the estate is known throughout the county, notably in Winkworth Arboretum, Claremont and Painshill Park, across the country and in other parts of the world.

  Oxford University Department of Zoology
The Department of Zoology at the University of Oxford has a long-standing reputation for world class research and teaching. The Department participates in teaching a BA degree in Biological Sciences and a highly regarded MSc in Biology (Integrative Bioscience). Research in the Department is organised into several Research Groups; these span a broad spectrum of zoology ranging from ecology and behaviour, through to molecular evolution, development and infectious disease biology. The John Krebs Field Station and Wytham Woods are used by several Research Groups, including the Edward Grey Institute of Field Ornithology (founded 1936) and the Wildlife Conservation Unit (WildCRU). Molecular and cellular research is supported by excellent laboratory facilities, while several members of the Department are members of the recently built Peter Medawar Building for Pathogen Research.
