The University of Maine System is made up of seven universities ranging from Portland on Casco Bay in the south to Fort Kent on the Canadian border in the north, and from the western mountains to downeast Maine. Each of our universities has a distinct mission and serves as the educational and cultural center of its community.

The Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources Education and Communication Systems (ANRECS) is dedicated to providing the highest caliber educational programs and services to encourage and enhance learning among citizens, students, and organizations.

Jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the College of Human Ecology at Michigan State University, the Department offers undergraduate and graduate programs in such areas as dietetics, human nutrition, and food science.

Our award-winning campus is home to over 25,000 students. A highly ranked undergraduate program gives students top priority. In addition, the department provides multiple resource facilities for international agriculture and market development.

The Depart. of Entomology faculty work to provide an excellent education, develop innovative research programs and supply a creative, highly visible problem-solving extension program. Part of the College of Agriculture at Iowa State, which is Iowa's land-grant university.

As of July 1, 2002, the departments of Animal Ecology and Forestry have been merged to form the new Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management. Both former departments will continue to offer all of the same undergraduate and graduate degrees and options.

The College offers broad educational opportunities to a wide spectrum of public audiences, conducts applied and basic research that addresses the needs of citizens, businesses, and public agencies and makes numerous outreach opportunities accessible to its constituents.

The department has a strong research-graduate student orientation, usually with about 50 to 60 active graduate students. The department offers 16 graduate courses in a variety of subjects from econometrics to agricultural policy and environmental management.

Established in 1965, IAA is a 60 credit certificate program that focuses on applied teaching methods. The IAA is noted for its individualized attention, hands-on learning and the employability of its graduates. All IAA students intern at appropriate facilities, and many are hired by the business with which they trained.

The Department of Agricultural Economics maintains large and diverse programs in undergraduate instruction, graduate instruction, research, and extension outreach. It has a rich tradition of service to agriculture and related fields, dating back over 75 years.
